...or the Projects. Whichever title you prefer, doesn't matter.
This place is a pit. It's depressing, there are tons of strange individuals that live and loiter around here, but I know it is because of the incredibly cheap rent. I pay $400 a month and that is a steal in Carrboro, but I am willing to pay double in December when my lease ends so I can get the hell out.
Where should I start' The handle to the toilet in the apartment has to be held down for about 5 seconds before it flushes. Gross. The pool is foul. I will never go in it. I wanted to do my laundry this weekend and discovered that the laundry facility doesn't have a bill changer. Can we speculate a burglary has happened in the past to prevent honest people to get their damn laundry cleaned'
Roaches. I have to put all my food in the fridge so bugs don't get in it. I have taken showers and still felt dirty when I get out because a roach was floating in the water at my feet while I bathed. <
Sketchy people that stare as you go to check your mail, walk your dog, go for a walk, take out your trash and walk up to do your laundry.
The bus doesn't come out there later than 6pm. It's really inconvienient if you want to have a life beyond a 9-5 workday and you don't have a car. The road leading to the apartments is also dangerous for bikers because there is no shoulder to ride on. Very dark at night also: the road Estes, AND the apartment bldgs. If I do want to get the bus at a later time, I have to take a hike through a dark wooded path is at the back of the apartment complex, in a very precarious and unsafe-feeling spot. You have to walk through the woods where there is no light to get a bus off of Greensboro Street. Not cool.
Water is brown when you first turn on the faucet. Disgusting.
If you are white, you are a minority here. If you are a college student, you are a target for stares and perhaps even pan-handling. Alot of these creeps don't appear to have jobs or even lives separate from this place.
There are about 50 cars that are broken down on the premise and are always there. It's a literal junkyard wasteland.
I wouldn't even recommend this place to Sarah Palin and her wacked-out family and I'm a staunch liberal who can't the woman. If you are a woman, you will be stared at and receive a hollered "Hola lady" by a strange man with leering eyes. I usually walk around with my Ipod on so I can just ignore the creepy bastards but then I feel unsafe that way too because my sense of awareness is not as sharp.
Overall, don't do it. If you have lived anywhere nice at all in your life, you will constantly compare it to this horror of a place to call home and you will feel regret.
My own dog doesn't even like it here.
