not as nice as it used to be

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
I've lived here for a few years and have noticed that the standards have dropped over the past year while the rents have gone higher. Too high now in fact. The apartments are showing their age and the repair service is fairly unresponsive to anything less than emergencies. When they do respond (usually after several reports) as somebody mentioned they patch up rather than fix.
The only things that set Poplar Place apart from other communities (well, except the property next door) is the scenery and loaction. 15 minutes walk from Chapel Hill with free bus service and a stop on your doorstep. Area is very quiet and fairly peacful. And the trees. The apartment blocks are surrounded by huge trees which makes a nice change from the usual urban apartment communities anda nice area to walk in. Birds, squirrels, frogs and occasional deer can be seen as a result.
And insects. Expect to be killing some in Summer.
Overall if you like trees that's basically what you'll be paying for. If you want somewhere better constructed with nicer apartments and cheaper rent you'll probably be able to find other places to your liking.
