I have lived at Rock Creek for almost 2 years, which indicates that I did renew my lease. I found the complex to be perfect for the young professional or graduate student. I would add that location is the key, some people complain about being so far from things.
So here are a few positives about the complex:
--great staff, if you take the time to get to know them they will make your life so much easier
--great maintenance staff, very helpful and quick to respond
--grounds well kept, service crews come about twice a month
--each apartment has w/d connections. I found only a few in the Chapel Hill area with this amenity. Plus you can rent w/d for about $30/m
--The "J" busline begins at Rock Creek which means you are GUARANTEED a seat...big plus on the busy route
--cheap rent, I paid $499 for a 1BR. Call frequently for specials!
--Quiet and safe place to live. I rarely hear my neighbors. Of course, a few car break-ins have occurred but that is common everywhere.
--Decent location...far enough away to be quiet but within 1.5 miles of 2 grocery stores, several restaraunts, a gym and UNC
A few cons to consider:
--Depending on the location of your apt, you may lack direct sunlight. I only have two windows and there is little overhead lighting
--My apt is a bit cold in the winter and the heating bills are a bit high. I question the insulation. But then again, my apt is in the front and not surrounded by others
--I wish my apt was a bit larger, though the complex was numerous models
