Dingy and Drafty

Don't just shop by price--if you have to work an extra few hours to make the rent somewhere else, do it!
This was a real "study abroad" language immersion experience--only one of my neighbors spoke english.
The windows in my unit were drafty and caused the heat and a/c to be constantly on. The central air is loud, comes on continuously, and the thermostat is impossible to read. Kitchen was impossible to keep sanitary and the smoke detector would come on at the mere idea of turning on the oven or stove. Door locks were kind of shoddy considering the neighborhood and police frequently drove through the complex to make investigations.
Some parking areas were poorly lit and at times would have to park on the back side of building because of occasional overflow.
Loud music from downstairs often.
Beer bottles frequently left on stairs.
Children sitting on your car.
Baby diapers floating in pool...dirty, smelly fitness center...the occasional derelict making passes at you through his window...
The laundry facilities leave lots to be desired--are on basement level and crammed into dank, closet-sized spaces which were always occupied, even late into the night. No washer/dryer hook-ups or alternative heating solutions.
Was doing construction during my time there, water was off frequently.
Don't be suckered in by the cutesy model apartment. On the plus-side, the bedrooms have overhead lighting, and the staff is great. The maintenance crew will talk to you about whatever as they work--they're actually quite entertaining.
