Tonight (8/1/03)I was almost raped in my apartment in Royal Park. I came home at about 12:30 and two -------- men followed me from the parking lot up to my third floor apartment. I stood outside my door, with them a few feet away. I asked why they had come up there, and they said to see the girl across the hallway. They said that she was their friend and that she spoke -------. I told them that the woman who lived there did not speak ------- or know them. I knew they were lying. They stood there, refusing to leave. I didn?t want to open my door because I was afraid they would push me inside and rape me. After about 5 minutes of this I unlocked my door, quickly went inside and locked both of the locks. I called the Carrboro police, but by the time they got here the two men were gone. They spoke to the woman whose door the men had knocked on. She said she didn't know the men, nor did she speak -------. Their story didn't pan out, as I knew it wouldn't. They had been waiting to rape me. One of the men, the one who lives on the first floor, has previously grabbed my 3 year old daughter in a sexual manner as we were coming up the stairs to our apartment. He was also arrested for drunk driving a few weeks ago. The point is this; if you are a single woman, please do not move to Royal Park. It is not safe. (The manager of Royal Park, ------- --------, has a notebook of "security incidents" in the office, but what she doesn?t tell you unless you ask is that it?s only incidents reported to her, not incidents reported to the police. So, if I don?t go and tell her about this on Monday, that book will have no record of it. Someone could be murdered here without it showing up in her Security Incidents notebook!) Managers of apartments say these reviews are not real, that people fromother apartment complexes make them up. So I?m giving you proof that you can verify. My name is ---------, I lived in Royal Park from 08/15/02 to the present, and the police report of tonight?s incident can be found at the Carrboro Police Department. I will be moving on Sept. 15, after that date I will return to this site and give my specific address at Royal Park so that it can be varified if you want to check into my story. Please take this seriously. I just hope my daughter and I can make it through the next 6 weeks in this hellhole without any more problems.
