If you are a student or someone affiliated with the University do not move in here

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
I am currently a resident in Royal Park apartments. I live in one of their 1 bedroom apartments (they have 1 one bedroom apartment per building). I actually disagree with the previous reviewer (from 3/14/2009) about the maintenance (from my experience with them - hence 5 stars) and partially disagree about the management evaluation (Odily is a very lovely girl who is always willing to help but she does not run the place - hence 4 stars for staff). Yet, I absolutely agree with the previous reviewer on the bottom line conclusion. Do not move in here! You get those 2 months free or whatever they are offering now but you get to stay in this place for the duration of your lease (i.e. 13 months) and you may not like it at all. Do not get fooled by their misleading advertisements like UNC students, faculty and stuff are welcome and such and remember what this place really is: a low income family apartment complex catering to illegal aliens (I do not have a proof in my hands but from my understanding of the immigration laws I just do not see how all these people can be present in the country legally).
Personally, my main problem with this place is the safety of my motor vehicle, so if you own a nice motor vehicle then I particularly strongly discourage you from moving in here. I often witness children playing ball games on the parking lot or in a close proximity to parked motor vehicles. On one occasion I even witnessed children throwing a ball around vehicles, hitting vehicles repeatedly and continuing with their game like it was normal. On a perhaps more serious count I fairly often witness car alarms going off. Having for the single time ever parked my vehicle away from direct sight I got my alarm going off too and had to come out at night. On even a more serious count, a car of my neighbor was recently vandalized with its fuel tank door broken off. I have not yet decided what I am going to do about this problem.
If I was a college age girl then I guess I would also be concerned about safety but since I am not a girl I cannot really comment on this one.
Speaking of the "parking policy" also mentioned by the previous reviewer I doubt that it was actually meant to address some issue either existing or not. My understanding is that the policy was simply meant as a way of generating extra cash flows by selling an authorization to probably the most notorious towing company around to tow from the property. There may actually be a business ethics case here or at least a possibility of reporting the apartment complex to their regulators for their unscrupulous business practice. In any case, remember that if you (or people who came to visit you) were unlawfully towed you may be able to sue both the towing company and the apartment complex that granted the authorization.
