Nice Place (Called The Bridges at Chapel Hill now)

I have lived here for almost a year and will be moving out only because of noisy neighbors upstairs (there is a $200 transfer fee and Highland Hills next door is cheaper with bigger bedrooms). Overall, the place is great.

Pros: It has never taken more than a day to have maintanance fix things (and quite a few things have needed to be fixed), plenty of parking, fantastic location (the J is always running and you don't have to cross a busy street to get to bus stop), nice pool (only open during season though), nice staff, beautifully landscaped grounds, tennis, free membership to O2 fitness (pretty nice gym), reasonably priced especially if you get a special (though the Villages across the street and Colonial Village next door are cheaper), discounts for UNC students/staff, plenty of social activities, can rent washer/dryer, all have a nice deck, safe, well-lit.

Cons: The dishwasher SUCKS! I can never tell if my dishes have been washed or not. Top to bottom noise is pretty loud (although I never here my neighbors next to me), and the 2 bedroom floorplan is awful. I couldn't even buy a dresser because of the layout. MEASURE BEFORE YOU MOVE IN! It's not a lack of square footage but just the way it is layed out. There is a slanted wall where the door is and each wall is just a little too short to put a bed (queen) and a small indentation where the window is that doesn't allow you to put a bed there. There is only one wall where you could possibly put the bed and that really limits your floor space. I heard that all the 2 bedroom layouts are the same. Piedmont electric is a little high and water/trash/sewer are your responsibility as well. The apartment looks a lot nicer at first, but once you live there you realize the appliances and fixtures are kinda cheapo (but I guess this is usually the case anywhere).
