I've lived here for 10 months, and while I got a great deal on rent, the quality matches the price. The place was built in the mid 80's and the decor of my unit shows it. Beige formica countertops, cottage cheese texture ceilings and walls, ugly wallpaper and borders in the bathroom and kitchen and limited square footage are all detractors to this complex. While cost cutting measures abound, there are benefits to living here. The complex is located on 2 bus routes, many units have fireplaces that will heat the entire apartment, and almost all apartments have either balconys or patios.
The review before this one states that there is a slow response time with repairs. In 2/2002 new apartment manager staff took over the complex. There has been a marked improvement in service since this change. When i first moved in (5/01) it took 2 friggin months to get a fogged up window replaced (among other repairs), but when I recently (3/02) needed my dishwasher and washing machine repaired; someone came the next day and fixed them.
There is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of upkeep of the complex, but i have faith in the new management. If you are looking for a modest apartment, and don't mind a great deal of diversity, DR is the place for you :)
