I've enjoyed living in The Villages. Not perfect, but no place is.
Downs:
-some minor bug problems in summer
-the disposal broke multiple times, but was replaced quickly
-occasionally a bit noisy
-my roommate claims she could hear the neighbors upstairs having sex
-The two of us always have high electric bills (over $100 in winter monthes)
-high turnover with staff makes communication difficult sometimes
Ups:
-Beautiful location
-Pretty apartment, nice kitchen
-Repairs taken care of quickly
-We were able to lock in a very low rent for moving in in December, which has saved us over $1000
-nice bike ride to campus
-on one of the best bus lines, with late night and weekend service
-the floor plan was convient; my roommate and I had bedrooms on opposite sides of the apartment
-Aside from the fact that students occasionally have parties, its been quieter here than downtown chapel hill
-We had the luck of getting a washer and dryer included in the deal
-The best part of all was the "summer storage." You can go away in June and/or July and pay half rent each month your gone as long as you renew your lease. I really hope they continue this.
