There are really many things I could say about this apartment complex. Overall, I love the floor plans. The downside to this apartment complex is generally the staff. I won't get into details, but we are currently consulting a lawyer to take them and their rude property manager to court. Anyway, I could rant all day about this complex. Instead I've decided to compile some of my favorite reviews from other users. Enjoy!
The staff is extremely rude, all of them. Also, they will come into your apartment without warning when you aren't there. This happen to us on MANY occasions.
The staff is terrible. There is a different person working there every week. With the Exception of -----, who is a B---H and gives lousy service.
The staff here is horrible. Especially ----, she is the queen b----. They will seem like angels and wow you with low prices and incentives to get you to sign or get on a waiting list. Once you are locked in they never want to hear from you again. The day I went to sign they had jacked up the rent over 100 dollars from what I had agreed to and I was forced to sign it because I had a rental truck full of stuff and came from out of state. They will also manipulate your lease and make new copies that change policies.
Management is very spiteful to students, most likely jealous of our intelligence and promising futures compared to their GED hanging on the wall along side their Rental office certification that is there only accomplishment in life.
I've had to argue with the staff on multiple occasions to get things that were promised (rent rate) due to the lack of training, continuity and high turnover in the main office.
$250 off first month s rent even though I was going to have a short term lease. It was this very discount that made the Villages the best apartment for the money. A couple of months later, when I went in to sign the papers, I was told that I would NOT be receiving the money back because I did not have a year-long lease. They acknowledged that I was told I would receive the money back, but said that "I shouldn't have been told that" and "just because I was told that by someone who didn't know the facts, doesn't mean I should receive the discount anyway". After quite a bit of fighting and a phone conversation, they agreed to give me the money back (this conversation ended with a female MANAGER hanging up on me!!!
Also, today, I went all the way down to the office to ask for a spare key. They gave me one and I then returned to my apartment. The key did NOT unlock the door. I went all the way BACK down to the office and told them that the key did not work. The lady went to a back office and spoke with the very same female manager. She said that the spare key is the master key for the apartment and my key was made from it. In essence, the same spare key was handed back to me and I was told that I must just not be using the key correctly. (Yes, I somehow just do not know how to use that key). I return to my apartment to give it one more shot, and the key still does not work. Luckily, my wife arrived with a key at that time. I compared the two keys and they were obviously VERY different. Her key worked just fine. Upon returning the spare (frustrated that this was my third trip down to the office) I said "I have a hard time believing this is the master key for my apartment" I showed the lady the two keys. At this time the same female manager walks by and basically says "Well your key WAS made from that key because its the only one we have. It IS the MASTER. It should work". She is the rudest person I have ever met.
DON T MAKE THE MISTAKE. THE ELECTRICITY IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN CARRBORO AND CHAPEL HILL. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE IS AWFUL.
The manager is rude. The office staff is never the same. The maintenance team tries to rig something up instead of fixing things.
Furthermore, they are not at all understanding about rent. I went into labor the day my rent was due (which was also my last month there becuase they wanted to charge me $100 more per month to renew my lease) and called the manager asking her if I could pay them after I left the hospital. I was informed that I would be charged late fees and attorney fees if I ddi not have it to them in the next three days!!! I was in labor for GODS SAKE. I asked her if she could just take it out of my deposit that was to be refunded to me, but she had told me that i couldn't get it back because they would need to put new carpet in my apt becasue I had a pet.
The biggest problem seems to be the property manager. Hopefully, because of the letter and phone call I've made to the corporate office, that problem will be solved very very soon. Don't come here. There are far too many better choices out there.

These are obviously people who have had a bad experience with the office. Not getting what they want. Apparently they think the world revolves around them and their "degrees". How cynical can you be? I have lived here for 4 years and enjoyed The Villages thoroughly. Actually, I don't think I have any complaints except maybe these people above who are spoiled brats. I would try out the community and see how you like it yourself. Don't take advice from someone who probably just had damages and owed some money and that is why they are so bitter. The world would be a better place without them!

I love that the person who made the comment about the management being jealous of students' "intelligence and promising futures" is not quite intelligent enough to avoid grade school grammatical errors. I'm pretty sure we learned the difference between "there" and "thEIR" in 5th grade. Thanks for playing.
