Where to begin.

At first the staff seems nice, but as soon as you sign the lease, that changes. I showed up at 6:03 to pay my rent by credit card. The head lady of the office is sitting there on a couch, rubbing her nasty feet. And basically shook her head at me, and refused to let me swipe my card. She told me to come back tomorrow. It wouldn't be a problem at any other apartment complex, but The Villages has NO RENT DROP BOX. The head lady was a major -----, and has been on several different occasions. There was one time, I had water flooding my bathroom, and I called up there, and she said, "i'll put a work order in". I requested immediate service, and she just repeated "i'll put a work order in", but with a bitchier accent. The head lady is on a major power trip, and thinks she some sort of authority figure. I've experienced other problems with the staff as well.

The next reason not to live here is paying your rent. They got rid of the dropbox, so you can't drop off a check. They got rid of online credit card payments, and then they got rid of calling in and paying with your credit card. Basically, they set it up to make it as hard as possible to pay your rent. Not having a drop box is absolutely ridiculous. I think this is intentional to make it easier for them to charge late fees.

You have to physically go to the office, while they are open, and hope to god that someone is actually there, so you can pay your rent. This is very difficult, because in the summer time, they only have one person in the office, and you never know if they are going to be there, because they are always out giving tours. They care way more about trying to get new people, than they do about making it livable for the customers they already have. Several times I've had to go back 4 or 5 times to pay my rent because nobody is there to take it. It's incredibly frustrating, and it's really a scumbag policy.

At one point, I was going in to pay rent, and an office lady was locking the door to go on a tour, and I asked if she would let me pay rent real quick. This process involved her simply taking my check, putting it on a desk, and going on her way, and I had to basically beg her to do this. This was the 3rd time I had walked down to the office that day, and it was the last day that rent was due, and they only had one person working the office. This is a typical attempt at paying rent. It's utterly annoying.

The washer/dryer system they have is broken for at least one weekend every month. They also have serious plumbing problems. The water will go out in your apartment for several hours at least once a month. They assure everyone that they will be fixed, but I've lived the 2 for two years, and have never seen anyone working on the pipes. My bathroom has been flooded several times.

The repair crew is the only good thing about this place. They are nice, non-intrusive, and they generally fix things efficiently and quickly. The grounds are well maintained for the most part, but there is dog crap all over the place. This won't effect everyone, but the landscapers come every week, and they are very very loud, so don't expect to be able to sleep in on Wednesday.

Bottom line, you can do way better. The staff is completely fake. They pretend to be friendly, and as soon as you need them to do you any kind of favor, they are total -------.

Wow. So the Villages Office is finally watching these comments, yet from the post above it is clear that the staff is no different now than they were when I lived there. You would think after the ridiculous number of complaints about the staff, all of the them would have been fired and they would start fresh with possibly more competent people. For all those reading the Anonymous comment from the Villages Office staff, take it with a grain of salt. I would trust Randall way before I would trust anyone in the villages office. I was lied to, intentionally hung up on mid-conversation (during which I never even raised my voice or said anything even remotely profane), and much worse. Take Randall's advice and avoid this place at all cost until the staff situation has improved. Besides, who wants to pay a $100 electric bill for a studio apartment in which the only thing running is the hot water heater and the fridge.
