When my husband and I went to sign up for the villages the non-manager staff lured us in with great stories and promises of a nice manager.
Not so!!! The manager is miserable.
She is rude and does not hesitate to hang up on people.
The rent is overpriced, and the electric bills are insane!!! $100 on a good month for running little other than a fridge.
No dishwasher, no heating/air--just the fridge, lights, and hot water heater in a 600 ft2 apartment.
The maintenance men were usually friendly, and if you live here you may get to know them well.
Our plumbing backed up several times, spilling onto our carpet, which seems to be pretty common.
Also, the tennis court (one of the attractions) doesn't have lights that are operable.
Finally, if you live on the 1st floor, you will hear every little creak and step that your neighbor above you makes.
I can't imagine how noisy it would be if your neighbors partied.
Most importantly though, the worst thing about this place is the manager.
She should have been fired so long ago.
Rarely have I ever had to deal with a more unpleasant person.
We first got sight of this when we had signed a contract and been told our rent would be a certain amount with a discount for being unc employees, and on move in date were told that the person who filled out our forms "just didn't know" and our price would be different.
The manager was incredibly disagreeable, saying that she shouldn't be held to the price that we agreed on when signing the contract, and hung up the phone on us.
I'm frustrated just thinking about it years later!
