I have looked this sight over many times and it seems the largest complaint, other than the obvious, is that no one can get an answer as to who the upper management is and how to contact them.
People, a little work would bring all this to light and it is all free and legal with the links attached for verification.
Brook Arbor is owned and managed by:
Executive Affiliates Inc.
47W210 US Hwy 30
Big Rock, IL 60511-9358
630-556-3731
They are a REIT with assets listed at $50- $100 Million.
Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) have become popular because they pool real estate assets and sell them to investors in a liquid form as equities (stocks).
REIT's are used by developers to refinance existing portfolios and by financial companies to produce new equity vehicles, which can be sold through their brokerages.
So no, general customer satisfaction is not a top priority for them.
Returns on investments are.
For additional proof of their hands off approach to property management I would direct your attention to comments made by customers at their other local property.
Executive Affiliates Inc.
also manage Westover Hills (off of Cary Parkway) 1000 Heathmoor Lane whose reviews are comparable to those listed here.
In closing please note that 8 complaints have been listed with the Better Business Bureau in the last 36 months for Brook Arbor Apartments and 2 for Westover Hills.
However, as this does nothing to legally cause them to change their practices, might I echo the sentiments of another reviewer and suggest you take this to the NC Department of Justice.
The complaint form can be downloaded and action will be taken, but a pattern must be established first.
Here are the links that I promised so that my findings can be verified by the skeptics.

There is also problems with another property that E.A.I. opperates- Aylesbury Farms in Duluth GA. There are numerous problems that have been reported (many times), but nothing has been addressed. I believe a management assessment, with both E.A.I. and their properties (especially Aylesbury Farms), needs to be addressed- possibly making some drastic personnel changes.

I am so happy to hear that we are not the only ones having problems. Let me air the dirty laundry list of things that need to be looked at in our complex right here in Buford, GA. The pictures and the floor plans look beautiful on the rent.com site, but they are so deceiving. We are military and thought that we would really like it here and to be totally honest I don't even want to live in GA any more after moving into this complex. Not being from this area we were not expected to move in and not have lights. We had been told that we could move in anytime that we wanted and for us midnight was the soonest, but when we got to the apartments know one was able to meet with us after being told that they could. We then could not see a thing and moved in in the dart. Our lease says that there are ceiling fans, but they neglected to tell us that we had to live on the top floor to have them. They also neglected to tell us that we would not have a fire place and computer out cove like the floor plan shows. They also tell you how big the living space is, but when you look at it they are adding in the garage, if you get an attached garage, as living space. They don't show a garage in the floor plan so it is very deceiving. The buildings are old and the windows are moldy. They are not sufficient and when it get cold down here they have you keep your faucet drip so the pipes don't freeze. We recently have been told that we are still on a water ban, but we are not. The grounds keeper informed us that the landlord doesn't want to fix the pipes to turn the car wash back on. The pool is in need of repair and the gates don't work properly. We even were told that the pool was open year round. They didn't open the pool like they told us and when they finally did, the pool gates get chained closed at 6PM and only opened when someone is in the office. The patio furniture for the pool is in disrepair and the tennis courts lights need replaced. They have been told these things need fixed numerous times, but the property manager continues to give the excuse that their is not enough money in the budget to fix these things. We pay almost $1200 a month and there are at least 100 apartments that pay that each month and you still tell us that there is no funds. We have a huge complex and not too many apartments are vacant, but if they don't stat fixing things there will be a lot of places vacant. The EAI needs to come in and look at the poor job that the people are doing here. There seems to be a lack of communication or a lack of not caring. The complex could be really nice, but the biggest worry is that the gardeners are here every day grooming the very small lawns and cutting back trees almost to the ground. Don't let the pictures fool you. The reason that they took a picture from so far away is because if they took one close up you could see all of the problems with the facility. To top it off they say that they are animal friendly, but the gardeners spray harmful pesticides every where and you really can't take you dogs out side for a long time afterwords. They don't really have a big place to walk a dog they should take some of the vacant land that is around the property and have a dog park. It may even come in handy to have more places for the kids to play, but they only furnish a unlit tennis court and a baby play ground that doesn't allow middle school children to play at. I hope this makes people stop and check things out before you rent. I will never rent from this corporation again, nor anyone like them.

A great relief to find out that we are not alone. We live at Westlink Village in Wichita, Kansas. At the time we signed our lease, we were told that maintenance was a high priority. Response when called would be quick. We were also told that a security officer or two resided on the property and would respond immediately. Both maintenance and security would respond by phone within 5 minutes. Within the first three days of living at Westlink Village we had the toliet in the main bathroom not only become plugged but overflow. The maintenance person on call did not respond the second day. After two hours, I called and requested that maintenance come for a maintenance emergency. Maintenance personnel called back approximately 20 minutes later. Told me that this was not considered a maintenance emergency and that we had the half bath that we could use. They would see us on Monday. On that same day while doing laundry, the shelf above the washing machine fell down and hit me in the head and arm. On Monday, just three days after we moved in, my husband went to the office to talk to personnel. He was treated rudely. So I wrote a factual account of events of the weekend. On Tuesday we received a letter stating that since we were obviously not happy there we would be released from our lease and could find some place to else to live. We had not even been in the apartment a week yet.
The property manager was on maternity leave and just happened to come by the office. She saw the letter we received and my response. Totally embarrassed by her staff, she called. We met at a neutral location and were assured that this wasn't the norm. She prided herself and the complex on the maintenance. Eventually the maintenance guy was fired and the staff in the office was reprimanded by a regional manager.
From this time until the current date of my writing, we have had constant issues with plumbing in the apartment, had to have the stove replaced, minor repairs to the dishwasher, and the tub in the main bathroom was just recently replaced with a new "surround" because of a mold problem. The tub replacement and the surround were only in place about one week when the caulking turned brown. One place was missed and I caulked it myself. The faucet at the head of the tub is not secure and the caulking around it needs to be replaced already.
In addition within the first year, there was a leak in the bathroom in the apartment above us and the ceiling in our bedroom closet had to be replaced.
There are numerous cracks in the walls. This past winter the windows had a problem in both bedrooms and one of the windows had to be replaced. The paint is coming off both sides of the windows in both bedrooms.
The fireplace allows lots and lots of cold air to come into the apartment. We finally put plastic over the front. When I did that I noticed on the inside of the fireplace that the floor was separating.
We are currently having problems with the guy upstairs who moved in four weeks ago. Dogs barking, child stomping and running across floor and he is parking in my handicap place which I have had access to for the past two years.
The response of the security officer, now called the courtesy officer, has been non-existent until just this past week. He informed us that the guy upstairs has had numerous complaints besides ours. Yet the property manager has yet to do anything.
Traffic is a problem that I have addressed with the office manager and property manager. I have nearly been hit by a car simply crossing one of the streets. Finally called the property manager on her cell phone to report the problem. She sent a courtesy officer. Suggested speed bumps to get people to slow down. Nothing has happened.
The second year we lived at Westlink Village, the parking lots were paved. Because of the inadequacy of the company and the ineptness of dealing with that company, the project took twice as long as it was supposed to take.
The maintenance head told him when he put in the surround and the tub that he would return the next day to reinstall a grab bar. Waited until 5:00 pm that day with a no show from him. Called the office and asked that he not return. I would deal with the problem. The next day I received a letter from the property manager saying they had tried to deal with my "demands" and rude and disrespectfulness of office personnel would not be tolerated. Called the property manager and told her what I said in the call. She was not aware that the maintenance person had said he would come back. The person in the office who reported my phone call to her did not tell all that was said and that I was simply calling to tell the maintenance person not come the next day.
There are always excuses. And many, many redos when maintenance is involved. We also have a light switch in the extra bedroom that is not connected to anything.
The property is getting rundown. It is poorly maintained. Maintenance job is simply taking care of emergencies and not maintaining the apartments.
The grounds keeper was chided by the regional manager because of the dirt along the curbs at one of the entrances. However, on the grounds of the apartment, buildings are in need of painting, drain pipes are not attached to buildings, leaves are clogging the gutter so there is a problem with water dripping from the overhead apartments.
This is just our experience at Westlink Village. We will not be renewing our lease. I guess you can understand why.

I live at an Executive Affiliates Property in Cary North Carolina. I have been a resident her for over 4 years and I am appalled at the changes. Over the last three years I have had mold problems and have been hospitalized on three separate occasions for respiratory related issues. My kids have never had more respiratory problems and I am compiling as much info on Executive Affiliates as possible for an article to be published shortly on the abusive nature of the management and the poor living conditions offered at a premium. If you would like to contact me directly in confidentiality please do so at landlordcomplaint@hotmail.com
