A very nice community

I just found this web site, and I was blown away by some of the comments about my neighborhood. I've lived here for two years, and anyone that would call this place a "ghetto" has never even seen a low income neighborhood, let alone lived in one. They say ignorance is bliss, and I suppose it would be for someone so sheltered.

Someone else commented on safety, and mentioned the "occasional" gunshot. These statements were obviously made by people that have been thrown out of their apartments for never paying their rent on time, or some more egregious violation of their lease. One guy got drunk and fired a weapon into the air one night. It was an isolated incident, and no one was hurt. I wonder if Nicole Brown's neighborhood is now considered "unsafe." Any remotely educated resident knows that North Carolina law forces rental property landlords to wait a certain amount of time before just tossing out a tenant, regardless of any laws they have broken. He was gone in much less than two months. I know, because he lived in my building. Libelous internet postings, however, are nothing new, so I digress.

The management staff is awesome. I moved here from Connecticut to take a job with a software company at RTP. Eight months later, I was a layoff vitcim. No job, no income, but in the middle of a lease, and the manager was nice enough to work with me. I was back on my feet within three weeks, but the office was very patient with me when my rent was delayed by over two weeks. I was never late before that, I have never been late since that, and I have never caused any problems. I can assure you that these people would have experienced the same treatment if they had followed those very simple guidelines. Trust me, it's no coincidence that all of these naysayers post as "anonymous." It would be interesting to know how many are actually from unique residents.

The maintenance crew - yes, *crew*, as in more than once person! - is competent and friendly. I use the pool every summer, and I use the gym equipment every night. I've never suffered any injury as a result. Parking is more than ample, but I suppose some people won't be satisfied without a space right in front of their door. It's not as if walking an extra ten feet is going to kill you, but you might try getting home earlier.

In closing, I'm offended that so many people would just trash the place I've called home for these last two years. I like living here, my wife likes living here, my son likes living here, and my dog likes living here. The manager even gives him a treat when she sees him. If you can find that kind of situation elsewhere, consider yourself lucky.
