Hyde Park is not a bad place to live. We moved here in December of 2005. Rent.com gave us a $100.00 gift card because we found Hyde Park through them. That was kind of cool. We have spacious 3-bedroom/2 baths. My criteria for an apartment was that it had to be neat, clean, bug free, rodent free, mold/mildew free, have a fireplace and a dishwasher and be quiet. I also had to have a place with a pool and gym in the Cary area. Hyde park met all those expectations. I originally did not want to pay over $800.00 per month. My husband and I went ahead and rented at $850.00 because it was the only place that met all my expectations and was reasonably priced. Water is included and trash is $5.00 per month extra. We pay electric and gas. Both are very reasonably priced. Electric never runs us much more than a hundred dollars a month even in the winter and gas was never over $50.00. Our credit was not good so we had to pay the full security deposit. No problem we were used to everyone always having to pay the full security deposit where we came from anyway whether or not you had good credit.
The apartment is pretty nice. Meets our needs and we certainly are not embarrassed to have company over at Hyde Park. We were careful to nit pick every detail that was wrong with our apartment and put in on the move in form because we assume that each and every detail we fail to mention will be repaired out of our security deposit when we move out. Common sense, right' You have to list it or the management can say it was not scratched, broken, dented or whatever when we moved in. Only one thing was an even noticeable problem when we moved in. We have reported smelling a little gas around the gas fireplace a couple of times and the maintenance crew came over and didn??t seem to know what they were doing. Everything else has been fine. The clubhouse is nice. We can check out movies from a small DVD/VHS library for free and they have a gourmet coffee machine in the clubhouse residents can use for free as well. The gym is small but meets our needs. The pool looks nice but it has not been swimming season yet since we moved in so I can??t give feedback about the particulars. They do have a very spacious grill beside the pool for grilling out. The office has a cute little waterfall wraping around the corner of the building and the landscaping is really nice.
As far as the resident manager not being a people person, I thought that was merely stating the obvious. M is very straightforward, honest, professional and courteous. She does seem a little odd but I can??t tell if that is an actual social skills deficient or if she is jaded from dealing with to many dumb ass residents trying to get out of paying what they owe and thinking the management owes them a debt of gratitude for living here. All in all we are quite satisfied and feel that the management had dealt more than fairly with us.
In order to get along any place you live you need to make an honest attempt to be a good resident. Pay our rent/bills on time and don't expect special consideration constantly.
