Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
I lived in this complex for 5 months during the fall of 2004 with 3 kids--ages 15,12, 10. We loved almost every aspect of living here.
Unfortunately, the people who lived above us made our lives miserable. They were constantly pounding on our ceiling letting us know they could hear us--even when we were playing cards on our patio at 7:00pm one evening. Within a few weeks of moving in, they dumped a bucket of dirty water down onto our patio just to be hateful. My understanding was that prior to our moving into the apartment, these people were used to single people living below them. Obviously, a family of 4 is going to make more noise than a single person. They started complaining to the office constantly about us--which made for a very unpleasant stay. They lived there with an adult daughter and felt they made no noise, yet I could have told you every time they went to the bathroom in the middle of the night, every time the mother walked on the floor(sounded like a horse), every time the grandchild played on the floor, every time they ran the sweeper, etc. I accepted their noise as a fact to deal with in apartment living. Too bad they didn't extend the same courtesy.
Because they had lived in the apartments longer than we did, management tended to side with this couple and I found management to be of little help in trying to resolve and settle this dispute--which is very unfortunate--as I loved every other aspect of living here.
The apartment complex is beautiful...the stone lodge reminds me of PA farmhouses. Our apartment overlooked the pool and the lake--so I was in love with the view. We enjoyed going to the lake to feed the swans and ducks and would often feed the ducks off of our balcony. I always found the lodge, exercise room, pool area and grounds to be immaculate and very well kept. Upon move-in, our apartment was impeccable. I am extremely particular about cleaning and I am not kidding when I say that EVERYTHING in our apartment was spotless. The floor plan and the features in the apartment were excellent and well thught out. Some of the extras made it a special place for an apartment--the ledge at the back of the master bath tub, the built-in bookcase, built-in corner shelves, and the computer room.
My kids were in the grade school, middle school and high school--and all 3 were excellent schools. I never worried about their safety or mine. Parking around my building was never a problem. The location of the apartments, being so close to Crossroads shopping center, was an extra bonus.
I truly wish that we had not had such difficult upstairs neighbors as I might still be living there. 3mPoZ6gGN6wTPgNi4L2C
