My husband and I moved to NC in September,2007 and absolutely loved our apartment at the Lodge until the new management took over. The non-existent office staff who never bother to return our messages is definitely a problem. We're grateful for the maintenance staff who are extremely friendly and quick to respond when there are issues, so that is our major plus at this time. Also - the apartments themselves are great with many special features rarely available including a great deal of shelving, a dry bar, beautiful moldings, and a sunlit kitchen (unlike most apartment "caves"). There is no argument that the apartments were built extremely well - the noise level is definitely improved by the effort the builder obviously made. You can hear your neighbors, but it's not ridiculous.
The warning I must issue is that if you want ANY kind of support from the office, dream on. If you have a package delivered to you and they sign for it, you better have ESP, because they will never tell you and it will sit in their office for months or until they throw it out. We had a package delivered and they kept it for FOUR months and we only found out by following through with the company (waiting for over an hour on a 800 line) to discover it had been at our rental office the whole time. Also, don't bother leaving a vm with a request (of any kind) - they will completely ignore it. In fact, if you speak to someone in person, expect for your request to be ignored as well. Oh my goodness! Someone who feels exactly how I do! I moved here because the staff was so nice, only to have them gone and new people replacing them- who do nothing! Requests go unnoticed for days and days... and once maintence is actually told they respond immediately. I have been fortunate enough to not need to talk to them, but if I did I would probably be even unhappier. We will have to take renewal into serious consideration come that time.

I have to respond and say that you can't please everyone! I myself think that the office staff is very nice. Every visit has been a pleasure for me. Lets be adults and know that you can't listen to what the next person says about someone you have to make your own decision. Life is too short to be unhappy live everyday like its your last. Pleasing everyone is impossible. Lelia and others keep the good work up:)
