Management is Very Sub-Par

We lived here for one year in a very nice two bedroom apartment. The apartment was great, parking was decent, maintenance was pretty good, pools were good, but the management was very hard to deal with and rude.
I moved from a smaller apartment in Chapel Hill and the staff there (Shadowood) were fantastic! They knew me by name when I came in, were very helpful, and went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. The staff at the Lodge are not that way.
The General Manager is very strict with the already strict corporate policies, and wasn't very friendly or easy to deal with. Her staff didn't ever seem to know what was going on, I would get different answers to the same question every time I came in or called the office. It seemed like either they were poorly trained or didn't keep track of their tenant information very well. It got very frustrating!
Moving out was also a pain, they charged us for all sorts of things that I have never been charged for after moving out of apartments.
We were good, quiet tenants and are now happily moved into a condo that is way less stressful to deal with management wise. :)

I have lived here 6 months, and while I have been giving rave reviews my opinion is slowly changing. I use to like to go to the office and see Party, however she is no longer here. I also liked Joe, but I haven't seen him around... he might still be here, but like I said I haven't seen him. The new staff doesn't really seem to care. I put in a service request and when I waited all day for them to come (I have dogs and I knew it woud be easier for me to be there.) They never came. I called the office to see if they put in a work order in the computer, which they said they couldn't look up. NOW, I work in this industry (in the Chapel Hill area) and I know you can look it up. Maintence didn't show up, until 4 days later and they never told me they were coming so I never locked the dogs in. I don't think it was maintences fault, but the office staffs fault for not putting it in or looking it up. He never even asked me what apartment I was in when I asked if they were coming out. What a waste of a day!
We have been looking for a new place in the area- and while we love where we are located and the apartment is fine (we considered moving up to a 2 bedroom come lease renewal) I am starting to wonder how the staff will be. While they are always courteous they aren't terribly friendly... where I work residents always come in to visit, we know their names, we have lots of socials so residents can have a little fun- things to promote good customer service. I am a little nervous about move out fees... what sort of things did you (the poster) incurr? We'll see what happpens!

Totally agree, I lived in Carrboro and the staff new everybody and would make best efforts to accomodate situations. I ran into issues when moving out, was told one thing, then changed when I was ready to leave. Office manager is definitely inflexible and I can't imagine her staff is enjoying their jobs anymore. And it shows.
