IBMer says OK if it's a deal.

I moved into a 1-br for $500 a month. Needless to say, this was a great deal for this area.
Things I've liked:
- Location. You can't ask for a better one in Cary, close to 40 and everything.
- Maintenance. They are usually nice, helpful, and really on time (believe me, we called for them often!) Our dishwasher was broken when we moved in and we had a brand-new one the next day.
- Price. Obviously.
Things that are crappy:
- Insulation. You will pay TONS of money come winter for heating. We just paid $260 for our february heating bill.
- Office Staff. They aren't as horrible as some people say, but they don't seem all that pleasant.
- Pools. Forget going in in the summer, it's always full of little kids.
- Storage. Not enough room for us. Nowhere to put big outdoor items like bicycles, if you have them. The closet is a little cramped, and there isn't very good shelving in the washer/dryer room. Also not enough kitchen cabinetry (depends how much you like to cook!)
-Overall, a little old. The dryer vents are plastic which is not up to fire code. We also had a problem with having only about 3 minutes of hot water, which they luckily fixed :)
Overall, I would say the 1-br is a good option for someone living alone, but watch your utility bills. It's a lot bigger than most of the one-bedrooms I've seen, so that's a plus. Depends on how much stuff you have though!
