co2 exposure, flames and rocky appliances...
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 5/17/2009
Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
I moved here in September of 2008, asking lots of questions about what my particular apartment would have as far as the age of appliances, carpet, cabinets, etc. On move in day I cried- it didn't look anything like what had been described to me, there was mold growing in my tub, the floors hadn't been cleaned, you get the picture. My fridge was also growing mold and rusted, one leg was completely missing so it rocked. I was assured by ------- that it would be replaced- never happened even after it continued to break. But it gets better... my furnace had rollout flames from the front(it's gas) where it wasn't working properly. I asked maintence about this upon moving in and was, once again, assured it was safe. My father visits who is a licensed hvac contractor and informs me it is not safe. He calls maintenance, it is replaced the next day. Interesting that when I asked it was perfectly fine' ... but wait again- I'm having headaches everyday, doctors visits and no cause can be found. Once again my Dad visits and he smells gas, I told him I explained that to maintance but they told me that was fine. He checks the water heater, apparently when they replaced my furnace (five months ago) they bumped the flute off the water heater, the "fumes" that should have been going outside were simply coming into my apartment. We call about this issue, they come quickly, assuring me it must have been something I bumped- because we all know I mess with the water heater so much. It gets fixed, headaches disappear. Four words : thank goodness for DadI am moving as soon as my lease is up and I'm sure they'll find another way to rob me as the cheap carpet seems to have worn considerably during my time here. Let me mention the neighbors who do not leash their dogs and then become irritated when your dog who is leashed proceeds to not be friendly towards their dog running up to his owner on a rampage. Or perhaps the neighbor who has friends who smoke outside your door where the smoke has no where to go and the guy below you who has the surround sound that shakes your chair and wakes your dog it can be so loud. Now the people themselves that live here have always been very friendly, it is simply put that this is an older apartment complex with very poor management. I have neighbors who are constantly fighting with noise issues and the complex does nothing to be of help. Take my advice and wishes, Best of luck in your search elsewhere.
