fairly nice, with some problems

These are very nice apartments, with many luxury features. Also, it was really nice to move into a brand new apartment. The location is excellent, and will be even better when all the road construction nearby is completed. The grounds are kept well considering all the construction going on. The staff is nice enough in general. The parking lot is well lit and I feel reasonably safe here. The rent I am paying is reasonable; in line with most places in the area.

However, there are lots of things that make me miss my prior apartments. Yes, the clubhouse construction delay is a big one. If the rate of completion was similar to that of the revenue-generating housing units, it would have been finished a long time ago, instead of just having the windows put in. However, enough has been said about that. The real problem I have surfaced today when a notice was put on everyone's door stating that rent is strictly for the square footage of the apartments, not for any amenities. This is a ridiculous statement and it's scary to think about the mindset behind a comment like that. Try to get someone to lease a bare bones apartment with no pool, no maintenance services, no gym, no landscaping, none of the features so proudly trumpeted in the marketing material to attract residents. Try charging the same (or higher) rent other complexes offering these amenities charge and see your complex approach 0% occupancy rate! But apparently the property management feels like renters don't deserve the features they were promised. It will be interesting to see if the rents go up when the construction is completed.

This is the first place I have lived where I have had to pay for water, sewer, AND trash. To me, if you have to walk 5 minutes to get to a dumpster that tends to be full all the time, it's not worth paying $1 a bag to do it. The mailboxes are practically in a neighboring complex, also.

Parking is beginning to be an issue now that more units in my building are being leased. There are 12 units, and there are 12 parking spaces in front of the building (not including handicapped). Obviously, with many apts being occupied by 2 people with two cars, plus guests coming and going a lot, this isn't enough.

With apartment living you can expect noise to be an issue, but I feel like more insulation could have been used to give a little illusion of privacy. Fortunately my neighbors are fairly quiet, but you can still hear everything and constantly feel like you're disturbing everyone who lives around you.

No complex is perfect, but I believe this site is designed to help potential residents in their apartment search (as opposed to a place to gripe about or complain to management). This place is worth checking out, keeping in mind some of the issues that have been mentioned and deciding how important they are to you.
