Sucks when management lies over and over and costs you $2K.

We specifically went over the breaking of our lease with manager ----, who assured us that we would NOT owe anything even though we were breaking our lease. We did our due diligence to ensure that if we were going to have pay anything on our way out, that we had it on our schedule to do so promptly. We were told even via email that we 'were fine'.
We moved out October 5. January 12, we get a letter telling us we owe $2K for back rent and that we'll be turned over to collections in three weeks. Funny...you knew our new address ALL THIS TIME and it took over two months to ever hear from you? When we called her to say there was obviously a paperwork error based on her own emails that stated we owed nothing, she rudely told us that she would NEVER say that.
Right. We owe all this money and yet it takes you TWO MONTHS to say anything?
We won't be moving back here this summer, and I'll spend the next year making sure the apartment stays empty.

ok i was in the process of breaking my lease, and you DONT HAVE to pay for it after you move out IF you find someone to take over your lease. If you don't find someone or if they don't find someone you still have to pay your rent till someone takes it over. The law in N.C states that they can not take rent money from you if they are renting out the same apartment to someone else, but obviously you have to pay if you move out and no one takes over. It's kinda a tricky policy, but they were VERY clear with me and i understood 100 percent what they meant. I did put in a 60 day notice, but decided not to move for reasons and they were super nice about it. I just signed a form saying I was going to stay till the end of my lease.

seems like apartment ratings should have an option to rescind your post. This misconstrues the real results of the ratings.. although I know that most posters are negative anyway--so anything above 60% is excellent, 50% is good, and so on.

This really only says something about the management not being clear with the tenant. It really doesn't have anything to do with the apartments themselves or this persons experience while he lived here.
