Update of my earlier review

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
My name is Marilyn, I state this so there is no question that I am a tenant. I gave a negative review of Vista a few months ago, since then my opinion has changed. I have run into some hard times and to my delight and surprise, things have changed. Molly was totally understanding and sympathetic to my situation. I am moving out of the area and she sat with me and explained all of my options and also helped me find the right solution. I went in to the office with a totally different attitude and the response was completely positive so I'm thinking that maybe I was too emotional to come to an agreement before. If I were to stay in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to rent here. I think no matter where you rent you need to pay attention to your lease (it had been over 30 years since I have lived in an apartment). You do need to cover yourself anywhere you go. With that said, the location is perfect if you are working in the triangle or at Duke. If you have issues try to go into the office with a positive, business attitude and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. They have great specials going on and the few people I have spoken with that have renewed their lease have also made good deals. Also, make sure you see the apartment before you sign the lease, no matter where you lease and even if it is new. I made the mistake of not doing this for many reasons. If I ever rent again I would make sure I do at least this no matter what. I also want to add a comment to the review about the sulfur smell from the water. The staff did tell me when I first moved in that because the complex was new (a few of the apartments have never been lived in) there was a surfer smell to the water. This would go away (which it did) after you run the water a bit. This is quite normal in a new building. Also check the walls near the floor to make sure there are no openings left undone from the construction and point this out to the office so that it is taken care of prior to moving in. I did not do this and had mice but once maintenance fixed the problem I have not had any more mice. I looked into this with people who rent in other new developments and it is not uncommon given that so many new places are springing up everywhere, so no matter where you rent make sure you check this. If you have any issues make sure you call them in. The maintenance men, Chuck in particular, is always ready to help.
