They sent me to a collection agency for no reason

I was careless enough to forget to pay rent one month. They never told me this was the case. When I moved out, I left a phone number and a new address. A month later, I received a forwarded letter that they MAILED TO MY OLD ADDRESS. It claimed that they had told me I owed them money, and they were taking me to court. I suppose because they mailed it to the wrong place, I received this letter AFTER my court date. I immediately paid them the money, and thought everything was resolved. A month and a half later, I received a letter from a collection agency, claiming that I have ignored previous correspondence, and that I owed even more money. This has been a huge pain.
That said, it is not unusual. The management is irresponsible and bewildered by how to actually run an apartment complex

Something similar happened to me. Noticed a change on my credit report due to not paying something that I didn't know about. They are idiots...plain and simple. Seems like with so many great universities nearby, they'd find semi-smart people to run the complex.
