The location of Farrington Lake is very nice. It is very close to Southpoint and Meadowmont. I am a graduate student at UNC, and parking at the Friday Center has worked out great for me (it forces me to get to my office early).

I live in the newer phase of Farrington Lake. I never had a problem with bugs. When I lived in Carrboro, I had to deal with cockroaches. I never have seen one at Farrington Lake in two years. I really like my floorplan. I have a lot of space, and the appliances are modern. I have a third floor unit, and I never hear my neighbors.

The management is terrible. The property manager was very rude to me when I moved in and the washer/dryer hookup had the wrong plug (it had a range plug). It took maintenance several weeks to put in the correct plug. In the meantime, I had to pay for laundry in spite of owning a washing machine and dryer. I put in several work orders for small items that never were resolved (i.e. oven light). If you live here, you must change your own air filters. I stop by the office every couple of months to pick them up. When I put in work order, I typically have to call and stop by the office several times to get it resolved. However, when there is an emergency, such a broken heat, A/C, or burst pipe, maintenance resolves it quickly. If you live here, make copies of your lease and any other related documents. The assistant property manager entered our lease termination date wrong in the computer. She also misspelled my roommates name. I haven't moved out yet, but I heard they don't like to give back security deposits.

Another problem that I have is that the neighbors constantly leave their trash outside their doors. Management doesn't take any action on this. Most of my neighbors have pets. The area around the building entrance smells like it. For some reason, my neighbors litter in the parking lot (fast food garbage). A man usually comes around in the morning to pick it up, though.

Overall, I like my apartment a lot. I wish management and maintenance were run more efficiently and better.
