I'm in the process of deciding where I want to live at Chapel Hill, but I have say, after traveling allllll over Chapel Hill and parts of Carrboro, Foxcroft is the best deal as far as the amount of rent for the amount of space you receive is concerned.
I already asked the mgmt. about the fire and they didn't try to cover it up. Yes there was a fire a couple years back, but just like one of the other posts mentioned, they told me that when they repaired the building they also took other fire safety measurements for the other buildings at the same time.
I've lived in apartments for a while and Foxcroft is the only one I've seen with doorbells! It makes it a little more homey.
True the kitchen isn't as up to date as I'd like, but they have the largest pantry space I've seen to date for an apartment. And microwaves...they're cheap now a days.
As far as the fitness room and wash room being closed after 10pm...well...DUH! There is a note taped on the door in a bright red/green that specifically says those rooms are open from 10 to 10.
On top of that...Foxcroft is really close the UNC campus. True I haven't moved in yet, but it looks like Foxcroft will be my choice!
