Great for the student

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
My wife (Med Student) and I have lived at Foxcroft for 2 years. I am not picky. I figure, for the price, I can stand a beat up, tired looking complex. It is an old complex. So, with that in mind, why complain. Here are the issues I ran into:
1. The crickets and other bugs seem to find their way in no matter what you do. They have been informed of this by MANY tenants. But, this is nothing a vaccume and some bug killer can't take care of. If multi-legged creatures bother you, find another place.
2. The interior is VERY worn. You can tell there are at least 20 coats of paint on the walls as the corners are nearly rounded. The cabinets and fixtures are also very old. All of this is superficial, however, if you want NEW and modern, you had better look somewhere else. The carpet was old when we moved in. Perhaps this will be changed upon our leaving.
3. DO YOU PUNCH LIST!!!! If there is anything wrong with the apartment when you move in, LET THEM KNOW! You will be charged for every thing they find wrong.
4. the front door never sealed properly. In winter, you felt the cold air. In the summer, you felt the AC going out.
5 The tub surfaces started to come off almost from day one. The bathroom fixtures were old and worn. Again, if you want that new look and feel, look elsewhere.
6. MOLD!!!!! All over the exterior of the hallway leading to our door. I ended up taking the initiative with a bottle of bleach and a scrub brush. It helped but the summer is coming again. for those with athsma or breathing issues, think about this first.
7. LOTS of latinos have discovered this property. This causes an issue with noise as for some reason, they enjoy listening to music late at night from thier vehicles. They also do not monitor their children as we have been woken up in the early portion of the day by mini-bikes and go-carts zipping through the halls and in the areas near the tennis courts. If quiet study time is in you plans, THINK AGAIN!
8. Parking is ok. However, after they resurfaced the parking lots, they made the spaces more narrow. This is a BIG issue to anyone with a new or large vehicle. Little dings and dents are always a part of apartment life. In just 4 months I have received 6. If you like your new car, leave it at a friends house and take the bus.
9. The pool is LARGE! But the teens who hang out at the pool in the summer make most women feel uncomfortable. Like all teens vulgarity is their first language. If you have a family, this is not the poolside retreat for you.
10. The gym is open at 10:00 am and closes at 10:00pm. If you thought you could get in a workout before work, THINK AGAIN!. The equipment is 70's vintage at best and needs repair. I guess the sweat from somany bodies has eaten away the surfaces and the cushions.
If you have your own washer and dryer, you will be charged extra each month, however, using the community facility has a drawback. Nothing creeps me out more than seeing some guy unload my wifes underware from the dryer so that he can load his in. Plus, there have been a few situations where the clothes have been taken. This is a choice for you. Bay extra each month or suffer having others touching your stuff.
