Pros and Cons Abound...

I lived here for two years as an undergraduate; surprisingly, other undergrads weren't as much a problem for us as the non-students who lived in the area. Just because a neighborhood doesn't have a lot of students doesn't mean it's quiet.

The hardwood floors were a major, major bonus (no gross carpet to deal with), as were the washer/dryer and the newly-updated kitchen, which was hardly affordable with a 2 BR apartment but worked out well with a 3 BR. If you're going to live here, make sure you have two roommates, because you can get the largest, remodeled kitchen version of the 3 BR at about $350 apiece/month.

Parking was never a problem on my street (in the very back of the neighborhood), but I admit to being one of those people who pulled up to the front of the complex to catch the bus on cold or rainy days. Now, I hear, you have to have a resident parking pass, although I have heard from quite a few residents that they have gotten tickets despite having them or that other people have parked there for days and not gotten a ticket.

The interior of the apartment was 90% beautiful, with the only real problem being the moldy, rusty windows. Maintenance came to our unit more than once to repaint this, although everyone with half a brain knows that you can't just paint over rust and expect it to disappear.

Also, be aware that you can just walk down to the front of the complex if you've locked yourself out and borrow a key from the office without having to identify yourself in any way. This made me nervous more than once -- if I could get a key, who else could'

We had occasional roach/ant problems, but maintenance sprayed the buildings fairly regularly and you could request the inside of your apartment to be sprayed. It was nothing that a good can of Raid couldn't fix.

Oh yeah, and there was only one bathroom. At one point, we had five people living/staying in our place, and one bathroom just didn't cut it.

I definitely felt safe there. My apartment was kind of high up, with a staircase in the front, so we slept a lot of nights with open windows. I never felt unsafe being a female in this apartment.
