Cute at first, but a Rip-Off in the long run!

The community is very cute. I like the fact that the units are similar to houses and landscaping in general is nice. The wood floors are quaint... but buyer beware. There are bigger issues lying just beneath the surface.
For example, they like to get new people into the community with specials, and then hit you with the hidden costs down the line. For one, if you move in on a special... Enjoy it while it while you can! Because once you become a "resident" you will never see the likes of a special again. The rent is raised 100 per year(per month), and even if you decide to move to a new unit, you do not recieve the specials offered to new residents. Way to reward long-standing residents.
Secondly, the utility prices are completely rediculous! Don't believe them when they tell you gas is more economical than electric. Let me tell you, IT IS NOT!!! In the winter months I pay $120.00 and up for gas per month (keeping it at 67), and that's not INCLUDING electric that's used for your lights! You can add another $55.00 for that!
The space is small(especially closet space), the appliances and fixtures are as old as Moses, the laundry center is a joke, AND the rent is higher than other complexes in the area! In my two years here, I've experienced mold in the walls (which maintenance only cosmetically covered...nice work, huh'), bugs inside/out, perma-dead grass in front of the house, and cracks in the ceiling & walls. Add on top of that the utility costs, and the annual rate hikes, and by the end of your lease for all of your troubles, you could've been at a new luxury apartment complex with a pool and a free carwash! Seriously think about these things before you move in! I'm telling you the truth, to hopefully spare you everyone else's suffering! It looks appealing in the beginning, but in the long run... I doubt it's worth it. Seriously.
P.S. There was a peeping tom in the neighborhood, too. The management kept us well informed, but he was never caught. If you do for whatever reason move in, BE SURE TO HANG AN OPAQUE SHOWER CURTAIN IN THE BATHROOM WINDOW! Those windows are frosted, but you can still see everything from outside. Good Luck!
