I've seen worse

ON PRICE:
If you want to pay the price for a Kingswood or Bolinwood, guess what' That's the kind of quality you're going to get.
I think the prices for these apartments is fair. They're not the Taj Mahal, but they're better than dormrooms, and around the same price as you would pay for living in dorms.
ON MAINTENANCE:
Just two days ago my water-heater burst on Thanksgiving. Not only did he reply within 15 minutes, but offered to come in and fix it that night. On Thanksgiving. I've had random common apartment-type problems with lights or doorjams, and I've always received quick, friendly service.
ON SAFETY:
Lighting, I admit, could be better, but I would point out that no amount of lighting is going to deter someone who really wants to take your money. Not as if that excuses poor lighting, but let's be honest, here. It would be nice to have more working lights.
Otherwise, the apartment doors have three locks: the one on the knob, a deadbolt, and a chain. I'm sure you can get these replaced if you feel they are insufficient.
The patio sliding glass door does make me nervous as far as safety, but other than a locking bar and the already existing lock, there's not much you can do about that. If it bothers you too much, don't live in an apartment with a glass sliding door.
ON HEATING/COOLING:
This is where I had most of my problems. There are some places in the apartment that just will not get warm and some that just will not stay cool. I chalk this up to the position of the sun during the day, and poor insulation.
ON NOISE:
Just as poor insulation causes heating/cooling problems, it also allows noise to go straight through walls, even from three apartments away. Granted, people shouldn't be partying at 3 in the morning on a weeknight, but in a college town you should pretty much accept that as a given. We've had several problems with one particular neighbor and his parties, but there's one in every apartment complex. Nothing Laurel Ridge can do about that other than insulating the walls better.
OVERALL:
I've enjoyed my stay here. I plan on living here longer. Use common sense and expect college-town living when living in a college town.
