Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I lived in Southern Village Apartment for one year, and moved out recently.
Pros:
1) The apartment is clean, fairly new (6-7 years old) and has nice floorplan.
2) neighborhood is safe.
3) Maintenance: It has small maintenance problems pretty often for a new apartment, but the maintenance people respond to problems quickly and usually fix the problems in 24 hours. And the maintenance people are very nice.
4) convenient: it has laundry room and a small gym in the complex.
Cons:
1) managers are very rude:
The only time they were nice to me was when i signed the lease. Since then, whenever I talked to them for whatever reasons, they were very arrogent and rude. They tend to think that managing nice apartments makes the managers superior to tenents. If you tell them about a bad experience you had in the apartment, they would probably ignore you by saying EITHER "this is such a nice apartment that it cannot have any problems. Probably you, tenant, caused the problem!" OR "Common, this is nothing. This type of things happen all the time. Any apartment would have this problem"
This was the worst experience ever with apartment managers. I wish i never saw them, never again. I have couple of friends living in this apartment. They are very unhappy with the managers' attitude and none of them renewed the lease.
2) construction
Construction is not solid. You can hear your neighbor very well. Heavy rain creates leakage into the apartments. Also they have problem with electricity connection.
3) bug problem
I have seen many different types of bugs (flying and crawling) since i moved here, including wood roach, which is giant black flying roach. It is pretty common for those roaches to fly into the apartments. I guess it is because the area was woods before the apartment was built.
