I am student at UNC and have lived at various apartments in chapel hill, including mill creek, stratford hills, and warehouse. Sunstone is by far the worst. The problems started as soon as i moved in, and still continue. Examples: 1) The apartment was a total mess, they obviously made no attempt to clean after the previous residents moved out. (There was moldy food in many of the cabinets). 2) Many things didn't work; ceiling fan in main room, dishwasher(still not fixed), dryer, air conditioning(fixed using duct tape, runs all day to keep apertmant at 70). 3) porch did and still does smell like dog piss, as previous owner used it as a restroom for animals. 4) refussed to give me the $100 reward i claimed through rent.com (they had no exuse they just said they were not going to give it to me). There are other things as well, but you can get the gist of it.
Maintanance has taken forever to get done, even for things as simple as fixing a toilet it takes a week for them to show up. They at one point had to replace my roomates toilet and they decided to leave it outside our apartment door for 3 days.
Parking is okay because there are enough spots for residents and guests, however the spots are so small your car will get many dings and scratches.
The staff is extremely rude after you move in, and they are often confused about water bills, and move-in / move-out dates. On a Friday afternoon a little while after my roommate and i moved in our power was cut off. We had been paying it through the main office and were never told to transfer it into our name until it had been cut off. Since it was a Friday we could not have it turned back on until Monday and we were charged $75.00.
I would not live here again for free.
