The only thing I always loved about Sunstone was the location. I lived there 3 years and my experience was decent for the first 2. My experience definitely went sour around the time management changed from AIMCO to CampusAdvantage and around the time Jose left.

Aside from the perks we lost (fitness club membership,etc) and the extras we started having to pay for (water/sewage/recycling fee, increased rent), the customer service was terrible.

the manager at Sunstone was always defensive, rude, and condescending when anything was requested. Maintenance requests had to be put in atleast 3 times before anything was done. The manager always made it clear that we were trapped into our situation (lease) and that the staff would not do ANYTHING more than the minimum required to avoid getting sued.

Due to our distaste for the management (and personal reasons, too) my roommate and I needed to leave early. This involved turning over our lease. Management asserted that they would not do any repairs or such to help in this process - which seemed fair enough.

We didn't expect a lot of help from management, but we never anticipated they would sabotage our attempts to turn over the lease. On multiple occassions, after we showed potential tenants our place and they decided to apply, management would tell them -NOT- to take over our lease and would offer a bigger apartment for less money.

To avoid paying the fine for getting out of our lease early, we ended up putting much money and time into painting and renovating our apartment; we ended up successful in finding a tenant, and i only hope her experience isn't as bad as ours.

I need to rent another apartment, but my experience with the management of Sunstone has made me very leary of doing so.

YES, DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE MADE BY THIS REVIEWER. THIS IS TRUE!!! [[[ Rude, dishonest, unhelpful, confrontational management/ the shoddiest repair work after making at least three requests / generally unprofessional and rotating staff...stay away! ]]] D. KAPLAN'S TRUE COLOR WOULD COME OUT AS SOON AS YOU MOVED TO SUNSTONE.

Agreed!!! this place sucks. The fat ----- of a manager charged us hundreds of dollars, with no warning, after an "eye witness" saw us not pick up after our dog. When i went to ask her about it, she rolled her eyes and stompped her fat feet and immediately started yelling at me. I yelled back since i am not her 6 year old child. Since then, she has tried to "evict" our dog from the property. We went abover her head to her district manager who was friendly and resolved the issue. Clearly this woman is crazy and has had a personal vendetta against me since i moved in and they GAVE ME THE WRONG APARTMENT. NEVER LIVE HREE!
