Every apartment in my building had a car broken into at night. My bathroom sink would not drain for the first month and the landlord did not come until we threatened to call the housing authority. My shower had a big hole in the tile and their solution was purely cosmetic(still ugly though). The drywall was still rotting behind the tile. I had a dog and would be required to contain the dog so that maintenance would come and they wouldn't. Overall you would be better off living in a ditch.

You are right except the problem starts at the top with the owners. They are more interested in the outside appearence of your doorway instead of the mold growing in/outside of you apartment, paint chipping on the railways, water leaks which cost you money since you have to pay for your water and sewage, and trash scattered behind the dumpsters left by other tenates. Yeah! If nobody rents from the place the sewage bills or sky high (they don't tell you that). Beware! Beware!
