I moved into 901 Place thinking that I had made a great decision. I was, unfortunately, very wrong. The first few months were okay, their roommate matching service worked well and matched me with three roommates that I enjoyed living with. The problems, however, began shortly thereafter. Not only was the carpet completely trashed from the previous tenants, but the appliances, fixtures, and essentially everything else the complex provided was falling apart. By the end of first semester, we had about ten blinds left on our sliding glass door. I'm sure that this had something to do with the break-in we experienced, as well as the fact that the lock on the glass door didn't work AT ALL. Among the myriad of other crimes that occurred just in my short time living there, there was a stabbing, a DEA raid, a mugging (that put my friend into a hospital for three days), two car jackings (that I know of), and at least 10 break-ins (again, that I know of). It seems alluring that the rent is "only" $400, but the allowance they have for utilities and such is ridiculously low. My roommates and I were at the apartment maybe 12 hours a day, about 6 of which we spent sleeping, yet we still somehow managed to accrue $40-$50 in overage charges every month without fail. I could go on and on and on, but just thinking about it makes me sick to my stomach. If you're looking for and inexpensive, well run, fun, and safe place to live, I would suggest you stay as far away from 901 Place as possible.
