To Renew Or Not To Renew

I've lived in Addison Park for 2 years; generally speaking I've had a pleasant experience and it s definitely an upgrade from the complex I started in when I first transferred to Charlotte. I started off in a one bedroom and at that time it was a good deal for the price. Last November I moved in with a friend to a 2 bedroom unit with an attached garage I know the roommate situation was bad decision making on my part. Nonetheless, she moved out 4 months into the lease and the office allowed her to turn in a roommate release form without my signature. Worst of all the ex-roommate left 15 bags of trash in the garage and failed to clean her bedroom or bath. The office didn t feel it necessary to do a walk through as it wasn t deemed necessary; which made the trash and clean up my problem.
In light of the situation I attempted to offer a solution that I would move back into a one bedroom and pay part of the fine . Management informed me it would cost almost $3000 and I would have to sign a brand new lease with different pricing. I decided to stick it out and have stayed through the lease. Now I am debating on my next move as November 30th approaches. Despite my loyalty it seems in these times it doesn t amount to anything as I have been informed I don t qualify for any move specials. I m still looking because I m not sure the new pricing on the one bedroom makes up for all the woes.
In reading the other reviews if it wasn t for my garage I would have an issue with the parking, especially on the back side where my unit is located. The walls are thin and I can hear my upstairs neighbor particularly when she vacuums. I ve had an ongoing problem for the last 2 months with centipedes and still no response from the office. In May of this year it rained for almost a day and a half over a weekend and the water leaked in through the window seal I called the main number and I was directed to the emergency messaging service that told me it didn t sound that bad and they would have someone call me the next day .I couldn t help but laugh. Additionally, it took weeks to get my sliding glass door fixed and the back pool has been closed a couple of times the last two summers and no one even thought to put up sign to alert people.
On the up side, the complex has 2 pools and the office does make an effort to plan different kinds of events for all. There are a couple of staff who live on site, but they can t be but so objective when giving their opinion given there extreme price breaks. Waterford Hills is next door and I m checking those out next the one bedrooms are bigger and the price seems better with similar amenities. I would recommend it to others as an option, but you should do some research and a walk through.
