We just renewed our lease for the third time and generally couldn't be happier. Maintenance and groundskeeping are adequate without being imposing--they come in once or twice a year to change the filters and make sure the walls are still standing, and public area problems are usually addressed by the time I start to notice them. Response time to things needing fixing has been consistently good.
There are always empty parking places, not always right in front of the door, but never further than about 25 yards away. Two pools. Nice folks in the office who do a pretty good job keeping a balance between mollifying chronic complainers and shutting down the real troublemakers. Free firewood, filters, garage door opener batteries, etc. Rent goes up a little with each renewal, but that's as much to be expected as increases in gas, food--remember $0.99 celery'--and everything else in life.
It is an apartment complex, though, so you'll have some noise, other peoples' dogs' poop, and other tenant annoyances. Appliances are fairly low end, but I figure that's just a good business decision: Would you buy a $5000 stove for a stranger to use' The "all hours" garage band mentioned seems mostly to play from about the time the high school gets out to about dinnertime, sometimes later but I've never heard it late on a weeknight.
Bottom line: If you're looking for a decent home at a decent price and you have reasonable expectations, you'll be quite happy. If you're looking for a luxury condo, you'll be happier spending your extra millions uptown. If you can't bear neighbors above, below, and/or across from you in the same building, get a house. I call apartment employee on this one. There are no parking space available after 8-8:30 unless you have a garage. And if you do have to walk, it's definitely more than 25 yards. If you are a female and want to walk a good ways to your apartment in barely lit areas, this place is for you! The folks in the office are nice, true to that. Rent does go up every time you renew. Our rent has consistently went up $20-$40 a month each time. If you think that's a little, you are not in the middle class. And with the example of celery, I call bull again. Celery is dictated by weather and growing conditions. The apartments are the oldest on Harris Blvd. The conditions have not changed. They are not worth more money each year. Costs do not go up, because expenses are the same.
Some noise? Dogs that bark at all hours? A dog near us that thinks it's his life's purpose to bark until every knows he's alive. A rock band that plays all hours is an annoyance however you cut it. And they do play late on weeknights, or they are out skateboarding making noise. You must not live near them, because several times I have had to visit them to ask them to keep it down so I could sleep. And Sunday afternoon naps? Forget it. The band we are talking about will try to serenade with the sweet sounds of banging on drums like a madman.
Reasonable expectations? A nice, safe, quiet, comfortable, adequate place for me to live and raise my kids. Let's call a spade a spade. There are many other choices in the area and around Charlotte that are a much better value. I just speak the truth.

Wow Previous Poster, you sound like you definitely should not be living in an apartment....and btw, Addison Park is not the oldest community on Harris Blvd....do your research before you rant. I have lived at Addison Park (not currently) and it's a great apartment community. But it is just that....an apartment community. You are living very close to a lot of other people and sharing community features such as parking. Is there such thing as an apartment community where someone doesn't complain about the parking? I now live in a "country club" community of over 900 single family homes ranging in price from $300,000 to $800,000, and although I can park right in front of my house, I still have to put up with the loud music from the 4 teenagers in the house across the street, all four of their cars (and their many friends cars) parking on the street in front of my house, the inconsiderate neighbors who let their dogs poop in my front yard, and did I mention that my property taxes and homeowners insurance go up every year? When my a/c went out on a Friday afternoon last summer I had to wait until Monday to have it repaired, or pay a $150 premium for a weekend call...that's on top of the cost for repairing my a/c. If that would have happened when I lived at Addison Park they would have come out the same day, weekend or weekday, for free. Oh, and I'm sure you're going to think I'm an apartment employee too, since obviously in your opinion no one could possibly be happy at Addison Park. And I should mention, I think people who post negative reviews anonymously are cowards.
