I appologize if this does not trasnpose correctly look for the "-". You may have seen this also on another site or 2. Word travels.
My girlfriend and I have lived at this location for 3 months. This lease cannot end fast enough. For the past 6 or so years I have lived at a number of places, and I would recommend the place my vehicle was stolen from TWICE (University area notorious for this) before I would recommend this place.
- Appearance: fantastic kept up well. Carpet is Berber.
- Security: Basically non-existent. You are left to the illusion of "an affluent part of town does not have crime". This may be Ballantyne but 28270 and 28277 have high property thefts and damages.
- Noise: moved in when no one lived here, called courtesy officer 1 week ago after a neighbor decided it was Club 2000 at 1am. Responded in 30 minutes, dealt with problem. Respectable. Incident discussed with neighbor a few days after, as we were unable to get them to answer the door that night, no hard feelings.
- Parking is tight as all apartment complexes are. You want parking, get a house. Don't move to a place and expect to park in your favorite spot every single time. Many garages...er, many "satellite" garages...no where near living space.
- Upkeep of the landscape is pretty good considering the drought conditions. They unfortunately run their well water irrigation even after a monsoon style downpour. No water conservationists here. They are making areas that promote neighbor morale and mentality.
- Handyman: Took 2 runs of the dishwasher to notice that no water was being supplied to it in a brand new unit. No appointment was made, handyman entered apartment with out full and proper notice/permission, scaring my dog which thankfully we had no neighbors for her to bother with her barking. I mention the entry with out permission, because we were informed at the signing of the lease that NO ONE would EVER enter our apartment with out our EXPLICIT permission. FAIL big time. I want to believe that the folks below were the culprits. The best for last:
-Staff/Office: Folks, I have seen better work in some of the hardest areas of town. I have lived all over from the Arboretum, another location in Ballantyne, and several places in the University, one of which as mentioned before, I had a theft. All of the above (Maintenance, upkeep, condition, noise) all take a back seat to your Office personnel. The people working this office are completely inept, and will tell you anything to get you to sign. Even slightly push and pressure you to sign the lease with out reading, or at least skimming. They will then give you a special rate , and inform you that if you do not pay your water bill you lose your special rate. Makes sense and a fantastic incentive, right' They will THEN fail to let you know that the water is run by the water company, and that you have to set that up...with no knowledge of who that company is. When you bring information to them about things that they said about such, they will out and out deny it and basically tell you that you are a liar. The carpet here is Berber, and they notify you that if you have a spur or run, you need to contact them to have it fixed. My unit was brand spanking new and with in 2 weeks we had a spur that was out of no where, exactly on inch from the front of the couch. The property manager came over, looked at it, saw our dog toys, and instantly said your dog did this. After that insult, we were asked to pay $50 to have it fixed. It obviously was not the doing of my dog, which is a small breed, and her nails are very well groomed, plus it was a location that was in no way possible to have kicked up by an animal (there was no toy/ball in the location of the problem). It happened randomly, and innocently, and unfortunately they wanted the easy way out and blame it on an animal, instead of an innocent random event. I will not specifically name people in the office, mainly because it is numerous. I am only one person, but a person with much renting experience. Having lived in several locations, with vast differences in financial culture, and local attitude, this one by far, needs a lot of work. It is very beautiful, welcome and warming on the outside, but the inside is crude and undesirable.

I just moved in last month and I have already had the same problem with my carpet. My Dyson vacuum pulled up a large strip of carpet right on the edge where one piece ended and another started. Apparently this was not sealed to the floor correctly. A service request has been in for over 3 weeks now and so far I have heard nothing.
Also, true about the water company. I have still yet to receive any water bill. I called the city of Charlotte to have the water turned off at my old house and service turned on here and they do not service this address. They had no idea who my water company is. I am really confused here....who the hell is my water company? LOL
