I've lived in Auston Woods apartments for the last year--since the time when they opened. I was a chronic college mover (think 6 apartments in 4 years) and I've NEVER lived in a better apartment complex.

The office staff are phenomenally nice, the maintenance guys are pleasant and respond to requests immediately, my neighbors are all friendly and quiet, and the buildings are well constructed. It's about 8 miles from uptown--some other people have complained that it's so far from everything, but I think they're silly--it's a semi-rural environment that actually has a forest view, and I love it. I work in the heart of uptown, and it takes me less than 15 minutes to get from my front door to my office.

All that being said, the complaints filed by some of these other residents are valid--there have been a few crimes in the neighborhood (as a matter of fact, it was my "unoccupied vehicle" that got shot in the most recent robbery) but there are crimes all over Charlotte--crime is inescapable. The lesson here is to avoid hanging out in deserted parking lots at 3am. (Did you REALLY need someone to tell you that')
