The Townhouses are NOT Recommended

If you are looking for a Townhouse, skip this Community. I lived in a 2-bedroom end-unit townhouse (the Madison) and it was Horrible. The actual townhouse was fine and I liked the layout of it. However, the Heating/Cooling unit is inadequate for the 2-level townhouse. If you drive around the property, take a look at the AC units--they are small and old and cheap-looking. During the summer, when the outside temperature reached over 70 degrees (which is most days, obviously), the upstairs bedrooms would reach temperatures well above 80 degrees. The 2nd bedroom (over the garage) was ALWAYS at least 82 degrees and the carpet on the floor was really HOT, which meant that there was little or no insulation between the garage (downstairs) and that bedroom. The AC unit was just pathetic and you could put your hand up to the vents in the upstairs bedrooms and feel that the AC unit just couldn't belt out enough air to sufficiently cool the rooms down. Also, the master bedroom was quite large but only had ONE vent. Really, it needed 2 vents; actually, both bedrooms needed 2 vents. The Maintenance staff tried everything they could to adjust the vents, but there was never any improvement, unfortunately. The Office was nice enough to install ceiling fans for me in both bedrooms, but the fans didn't really help much. Also, I kept complaining about the thermostat, which was located on the 1st level and the maintenance folks kept insisting that it was working fine. But, it wasn't fine because I was constantly adjusting it (at LEAST 3 or 4 times daily). I bought my own thermometers and realized that temperature displayed on my thermostat was Wrong. Oh, and I forgot to mention that my thermostat was one of those classic Mercury Thermostats...talk about 'ole school. Well, finally, after complaining for months, they Finally replaced my crappy mercury thermostat with a digital thermostat and when the maintenance person took the cover off, he discovered that the 'mercury' had dripped out. So, I guess no one had bothered to remove the cover when I complained about it not working all of those times. Nice. Well, the Digital Thermostat was a little better, but it didn't really fix the problem unfortunately. And I understand why the apt complex would not want to Fix the REAL Problem, because that would entail replacing the Entire AC Unit outside. Oh, and during the winter, the problem was also pretty bad. If the outside temperature was under 32 degrees (which happened quite often last winter), my upstairs bedroom temperatures would get down to 65 degrees and sometimes lower than that...Burrrrrrr! Yes, very Cold. I got tired of complaining and just put up with it after a while, knowing that I would just move at the end of my Lease. I left there and moved to a different apt complex about 5 miles away from there called Abbington Place Apartments. I live in a 2 bedroom townhouse (villa) and my rent is cheaper than at Bexley and my new place is 20 times Better! It's way newer and my AC/Heating actually Works! WOW.

As for Safety, I felt pretty safe for the most part. But, I considered getting an Alarm System because there were a few 'incidents' that occurred, like there were a few car and apartment break-ins. And I felt like they were occurring more frequently as time went on. But, then once I decided I wasn't going to stay, I didn't want to have to get an Alarm System only to have to move it a few short months later.

Now, as for the Apartments, I never lived in one of them, so I cannot comment on the apartment living. This Review will be of more use for the consumer who is looking for a Townhouse with an attached Garage. I would think that the Heating/Cooling units would work fine in their apartments since they are on one level.

In general, Bexley Greenway did have some Good points though. The Staff there was Wonderful for the most part and they were always Friendly and Smiling. The grounds are kept Beautifully and overall, it's a Gorgeous community. But, if you are looking at one of the Townhouses, I would BEWARE! I agree with another Reviewer that said that there are many other apartment complexes in the University area, so I would shop around.
