Some Good But Mostly Bad

I have lived here since September of 2005. Overall, with a few exceptions the experience has been largely negative and I look forward to moving out. I will start with the pros.

Pros: The location is great if you work Uptown, it is within walking distance which helps with not having to pay for parking. Or you can take the free trolley which is also very close. Honestly besides that, I cant really think of too much else that is appealing about this place.

Cons: Where do I begin' First, the parking policy. The first level is for visitors however, I would say that 90% of the time when I have guests over they are unable to park in the building. Further compounding this problem is that there is really nowhere else to park in the area either so you are basically up a creek if you have any friends/significant others who dont live in the building. You can get a visitor pass for $5 if your guest is parking when the office is open, but unfortunately the office is only open during normal business hours when residents are at work and wouldnt be having guests over anyway. It is even more frustrating when above the fourth floor of the seven story parking deck, NO ONE IS EVER THERE so the spaces basically sit unused while guests of the 1500 dollar a month residents have nowhere to park whatsoever. Supposedly now the visitor parking will be for visitors only; resident cars will be towed during business hours. Again, management is missing the point because no one is going to have guests during business hours.

Second, the "security" measures and their functionality are absolutely laughable. The security boxes that grant access to the interior of the building were broken the first four months that I lived here and now the gate to the parking garage sits open all of the time. This is following the first issue with this same gate when the high-tech security passes issued to residents were not able to open the gate and residents couldn't park in their own garage. By the amount of police officers constantly in the building due to security issues, it is apparent the security has not done its job in the least bit.

The service of management has also left a great deal to be desired. Often they just don't answer the phone in the office, making it difficult to resolve any issue in a timely manner. If you ever need anything from the office it seems the staff is too busy trying to lease apartments to provide any type of help.

The workmanship in the apartments themselves was definitely done as cheaply as possible. While on first appearance the apartments look contemporary and stylish the true nature of their quality, or lack thereof, becomes abundantly clear after living in them for a brief amount of time. I have had plaster falling off the walls, cabinet doors falling off of their hinges, and the front door not locking in the time I have lived here. The common areas, especially the hallways are dirty a vast majority of the time with cigarette butts, beer cans and the occasional smell of urine which is always a pleasure to come home to.

Finally, while management refers to the residents as "young professionals" I would consider this a very loose use of that term. If you want to live in a college dorm/MTV Spring Break atmosphere 24/7 this could be the place for you. But if you actually are employed and over age 22 you would probably be better served exhausting all of your other options before choosing this place.

I hate to be so negative but this has been my experience while living here. I feel that in reality if you can afford to live here for the rent they charge, you could actually just buy something in the same general vicinity without having to put up with the problems mentioned in this and all of the other reviews.
