I moved into Campus Edge rather than deal with dorm housing.

I would set things straight that several reviewers here have said, either they are bitter about something or simply lying.

Utilities: You get a 100$ utility allowance and a COPY OF THE BILL EACH MONTH so you can clearly see how close you came to your allowance and/or where you went over. How much more proof do you want'

Maintenance: I've had to call maintenance once to fix a door lock, that was done ASAP and had no problems since. Perhaps CE replaced their staff since these reveiwers have had their problems'

There are two caveats:
Parking blows. Spaces are narrow and as with the rest of charlotte, people here can't park straight worth a damn. Prepare to have dings on your car unless you want to park out where no one else is. The lot was just resurfaced but apparently it never occured to them to widen the spaces a bit

Security: narly onexistant. The gate works, and the campus access doors are now PADLOCKED at night because the keycard systems dont work. however for nearly six months previously the "gated" community was basically free access. at least30 cars have been broken into since fall 03. THeres supposed to be patrolling guards and someone at the gate but...apprently they werent' doing their jobs (letting people in, not controlling noise, etc) that they all got sacked and no one's seen 'em since. Maybe they rehire in fall' Dunno. Also the mgmt is upgrading their video surveil system for the parking lots to increase security. I drive a ---- car with no CD player so im not terribly concerned by all that.

All in all the pros outweigh the cons to me. And CE is RIGHT next to campus which saves you on gas and whatnot if you're not too lazy to walk
