Safe, Affordable, Uptown Living From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 1/22/2006 Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006   I'm appalled at some of these reviews and wonder where they have been living. I've lived at First Ward since '04 and continue to live here. Never has my car been broken into or have I seen or heard gun shots. Yes, they are kids in this neighborhood, they're between 4-14, and yes they play in the parking lot. They move out of the way when you pull in to park, and sometimes they'll let you throw them a pass or two in their football game. Sure, some people you will see around the complex wear their pants saggin' low. Are they criminals' I don't know, but I do know they'll say thank you like anyone else trying to get their clothes out of the laundry room when you're holding the door open. First Ward is in the city and that means there are people of different ages, different incomes, and yes different races. If these concepts bother you then don't leave the suburbs. If you would like to live downtown where everyone is just like you then you will pay more for that priviledge. The office staff can be a bit lax with locking the door 5 minutes before the 5:30 pm closing time which can be annoying when trying to retrieve packages.
