Galleria Apartment Review
I moved into Galleria for two reasons: 1- To be close to my work place 2- Brand new residential complex But here are the surprises I was faced with after moving in: 1- You would have to pay a monthly fee for water ($15). I am used to not paying water when living in an apartment. 2- There is a 60 days notice in case you want to move out. They kind of lock you up because they know no landlord would hold an apartment for you for 2 months unless you pay the rent. 3- The apartment I moved in is smaller than the one I was promised. Unfortunately, they only showed the model. The apartment where I was going to live was occupied, and therefore, I couldn't see it. 4- There is only One garbage dumpster that get over filled during the weekend, and certain weekdays. 5- Galleria is a noisy place because of the construction going on inside the complex (Galleria Prime Retail project). 6- Frequent electricity problems. Since I moved in, we had a power outage 3 times, and one lasted for almost the whole night, on a Sunday while the temperature was in the upper 80's.
Off course, the management won't reveal any of these hidden surprises when you first come in to see the model apartment. But, when you come in to sign your contract, they will start throwing the facts one after another. It was too late for me to back off because I have already given my notice to my previous landlord, and the biggest disappointment was when I walked into my apartment. It was smaller than what they told me it would be. If you are considering to move to Galleria, you should give it a second thought.

I agree with the 60day notice, what is it with the apts in Charlotte? All of them want this type of notice. If you want to move somewhere else, most complexes (as I found out Friday) don't know 60 days in advance if they will have an apt for you to rent during the time frame that you need. That sucks. So, I have to suck it up and stay here for a few more months. But believe me, when my lease ends this time, I'm moving. I have a neighbor whose dogs bark all the time. The dogs wake me up in the morning and keep me from going to sleep at night. These dogs bark if someone is walking up the stairs (and usually its my retarded neighbor who stomps up the stairs like he doesn't have good sense), if someone shuts their door these dogs bark, if someone burps these dogs bark, if someone farts too loud these freaking dogs bark. I've called the apt complex and they said they would leave a letter for the old hag to do something about the dogs. Well, it was good for 2-3 days but the barking is back. Apparently, they can't do anything else and basically the gist of the conversation when I called back was that they didn't know what else they could do. So, I'll put up with it for a few more months, but will definitely not renew my lease again.
