My parents just moved to NC from out-of-state. A few days before their move, the complex called them & told them they had to move them to a different building, but their apartment would be the same as the one they had originally chosen. This was okay with my parents as long as it was the SAME They met their movers there on moving day after driving all night. When they finally got the key to their apartment, it was NOT the one they agreed to. In fact, it is a handicap apartment & everything is different. The movers had to wait while my parents tried unsuccessfully to contact mgmt. They did not have any choice (& the staff knew this) but to go ahead & take this apt. The staff has NOT been helpful at all to anyone, especially their new tenants, who have done everything they have been asked. They have NOT tried to correct THEIR mistake, other than say that they will give my parents the next available apartment-who knows when. When this does happen, my parents will have to move everything over to another apt. BY THEMSELVES, change their address AGAIN, change all of their utilities AGAIN, etc. They are new to this town & do not have family or friends near to them to help them. This has been a VERY unfortunate event for them. It was NOT their mistake, but the complex---who claim they didn't even know that the apartment was handicap--how can that be possible''' The way my parents have been treated since the day before they left for NC has been totally unfair and unethical. I am saddened that "professional" people would do this to anyone, esp. an older couple like my parents.

I agree with the coment above. These people rented in good faith and then when the management knew they had NO other choice, but to rent apartment. This is what I call bait and switch. The manager of this complex is also guilty of renting to people who had same thing happen and they are breaking the law. The new renters above this family had same thing done and have waited tow months so far for two bedroom apartment. The manager is renting a ONE bedroom apartment to family of FOUR. The husband and wife in bedroom and the Mother of tenant is having to sleep on sofa, and baby sleeping in what is supposed to be a laundry room. They too had no choice as moved long way and wife has new job. Now maybe I will call the fire dept., as I know this is not legal. They too were told would get first two bedroom apartment as soon as available, and they were there first. Now my sister and husband have been told the same thing. But day of move in, moving van there and no other choice to do, took apartment, but not one they were promised. I hope the owners of this complex read these now and then, as they have people breaking the law and just plain conning people to rent. DO THEY GET SOME KIND OF BIG BONUS for each apartment they rent??? I THINK SO!!!

Update to this situation: The "manager" of this apartment NOW (of course) says that she will not have anything available for my parents until OCTOBER--even though the model, which they were originally promised is STILL available---it looks to me like there is something available!
