i am writing this to clear a few things i have seen on this website up...i have lived at the hamptons for almost a year now and i too just renewed my lease.
the area the hamptons is in is one of the nicest, quietest and safest in charlotte. the entire development is well lit with not only standard streetlights but motion sensitive lights in the parking areas outside the apartments. i walk through our development on a regular basis and do so without issues or fear.
i did have the smoke smell issue in my apt. as well. i did call the office and maintainence was there the next day. the gentleman who came explained that the water main for the apts. are under the shoe racks in the closet (our closets are walk in with built in organizer shelves and a shoe rack.)and if your neighbor does smoke it can get in through the access in the wall in the area of the water mains...he brought somthing that looked like insulation and stuffed the area under the shoe rack. the smell stopped that day. i do not have the smoke issue in the vents...which i have a hard time beliving anyone should as all the apts. are on individual central air/heat.
i have had no major problems with anything in my apt. in the past year and the few things i did call maintainance about (smoke issue, stove burner burnt out, lightbulb outside my door out) they usually had a reply/fix for my issues within 24 hours.

the office staff have always been very helpful and friendly whenever i came in to ask a question or pick up a package.

the apts. are very reasonable compared to what other developments in this area charge for less square footage and more crampt parking/outdoor area.

i would (and do) recommend the hamptons to anyone i know that is looking to move.
