wonderful place for families

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006

i have lived in the hamptons with my young daughter for about 1.5 years. yes, the apartments are older, but the maintainence crew at the hamptons is wonderful. they do everything...the filters for the hvac are changed every 3 months, they come and replace the bulbs in my overhead fixtures, they replace the burners in the oven...everthing! they show up the same day or the next day for any call. they have a 24 maint. emergency number for when i lock myself out (which sadly i have done more than once). they are doing alot of construction in our development right now, but it is all upgrades and usually done while people are at work. i have never been woken up by construction.

the development is a wonderful place for families. most of the people that live there are families with childen. my daughter has made many new friends. the area is well lit, has speed bumps and new walking paths. the good part of being in an older, established development is that there is alot of green area for the kids to play in. and we live right across the street from the harris y and next to beverly woods elementary...which is very convenient.

i have not had much interaction with the new management. so far all of the changes they have initiated have been positive. unfortunately anywhere you rent these days will charge alot for getting out of a lease. it is every development, not just the hamptons.

i did read another review on this site that said the utilites were high. i find this hard to believe. we used to have conservice and the rates were reasonable...the new mgmt. company switched us to ista and my water/sewer/garbage bill went down. :)
we don't have a choice but to use duke power. the apt. has central air/heat so if you run these items all the time your bill be higher. as most of the people in our development work and are not home all day, i would not think that their bills are extraordinary either.

i enjoy living in the hamptons and will renew my lease when it comes due. i have been in other developments in southpark to take my child to play dates and think the hamptons is once of the nicest and most reasonable places to live in the area.

i hope this offsets some of the negative things i have seen on this site and lets people know that the hamptons is a nice place to be.
