I visited earlier this week the leasing office at the Hamptons at Southpark (formely at Quail Hollow) to inquire about availability and prices.

Positives:
. The gentleman who helped me was friendly, professional and did answer all my questions.
. I was told that starting 01/29/2007 the complete renovation of the exterior of the buildings would begin. I hope that's true.
. The area is quite compared to other parts of Charlotte.
. The Harris YMCA is a walking distance.
. The buildings are not close to one another so there is a feeling of openness to sunlight.
. The complex has high and low ground which is visually appealing.

Negatives:
. The apartment complex is 20 years old and it shows it.
. I was told that the interiors and appliances are repaired/upgraded on an as needed basis. That's not what I wanted to hear. It tells me that the appliance are very old and the previous reviews posted refer to that issue.
. No way would I pay $739 to $784 for their (770-860 Square Feet) 1-bedroom Ascot units. They did not even offer any specials this month I guess because their occupancy rate is high. There are far better apartments in Charlotte in the nicest areas of town for around $695.00.
. The floor plan of the 1-bedroom Ascot is neither inviting nor spacious. For example, when you enter the apartment all you see is the dining room. Then you go around a wall that turns into a waist high wall before the living room appears. I would not feel comfortable every night coming home and wondering what could be around the corner. In addition, the living room leaves little space for an entertainment center or Plasma TV.
. Application fee is the typical $50.00. But the administrative/processing fee is $175.00! Have they lost their mind'
. Their website does not show clear pictures of the interiors. Instead they posted pictures of the made up bed, the set dining room, etc. What I want to see are large pictures of the dining area, the living room from the kitchen, the bedroom, etc.

please tell me where there is an apt for 695.00
in a good area of charlotte, because i've been looking for 6 months, and don't be able to find this elusive complex. safe at 695.00 a month?
i doubt it. but i'd really be interested in knowing what complex you're talking about, because i'm getting OH so tired, of trying to find a safe affordable apt, in the slum known as charlotte
