i just finished reading some of the latest reviews and i have to make a few comments of my own.

i'm not sure why people in this day and age STILL believe that there is any place in a city that is "safe". charlotte is a very big city and as those of us who watch the news know, cities usually have crime. i don't think any apartment complex can be responsible for alleviating crime that occurs OUTside.

crime usually occurs when there is MOTIVE and OPPORTUNITY. if you leave things outside, there is a possibility that they will be taken. period.

it's pretty dark in some areas of this complex, yet i have only seen a few people turning their patio lights on at dark. light deters criminals. not all of them, but probably most. people who steal, rob, etc. do NOT want to be seen. that's why these activities usually happen in the dark.

people usually steal cars that are easy to get. if you don't have a theft deterent of any kind, then guess what'

if there is an alarm in your apartment, use it. then if someone breaks in, most likely they will be seen. if someone breaks in and you are home, shoot them. then call the police to get the body. that way they won't come back.

yes, there was a recent incident where we were told that some guys tried to steal a car (or cars) and shots were fired. i hope the shots were from a resident who was letting those guys know "hey, if you come in here with that, THIS is what you get". that way, those guys know not to come back.

we have a right and responsibility to protect ourselves. if we don't take responsibility AND exercise these rights, why do we complain' why should someone working in the rental office care more about us than we do about ourselves' they do NOT and they WILL NOT.

we're living here because we chose to and we hope not to be here too much longer. but while we're here, i plan to be pro-active in my own safety.

Vehicle thefts...maybe better lighting in the parking areas would help instead of the dull glow of the sweet little street lamps.
