I wanted to elaborate on the last post being that I was the roommate of the individual who made that post.
We scheduled to move in at 9am at least 1 to 1 1/2 months in advance. It was not like we had decided this a few days prior to moving in. The office staff had plenty of time to prepare for our move in date. Instead of owning up to their mistake, they blamed it on the fact that the people that lived in the apartment prior to us, had just moved out. This was neither our fault nor our problem. It should have been ready when it was scheduled to be ready...don't double book yourself!
The place was disgusting, even after their last minute attempts to prepare the apartment for us. I found areas in the bathroom where hair had been previously painted over, and there was dust and cob webs lining multiple areas, in each room. Even as we continued to move our furniture in throughout the day, there were last minute repairs being made, such as maintenance painting over the rusted air filter cover!
Moving on to the rain, flood, and mold issue It was absolutely ridiculous trying to get anything fixed by the office staff or maintenance. One night it rained so hard and flooded so bad that I called the on call maintenance guy, who reluctantly came out. He made a blatant comment to me that Hunt Club Apartments tends to put "band-aids" over problems, and that it would not happen at the other equity residential property that he worked for primarily. Here is the real kicker though...I requested multiple times on multiple "flood" occasions that the problem be fixed and that they actually fix the problem instead of just painting over the water damage and mold and sucking the water out of the carpet (which they did most every time I called), and I did not get the problem truly fixed until I contacted the city of Charlotte and had an inspector come out to check everything out. I complained and made requests for 2-3 months prior to actually contacting an inspector, and it took the city of Charlotte to get anything done!
One other problem I noticed around here is the filthy facilities...yeah, it's great to have a pool, but it's obvious that this one is not maintained as it should be. There was always trash and dirt in it. It wasn't like that when we moved in, but it started about halfway through summer and continued until it was closed for the season. Neighbors are consistently leaving trash bags and any other forms of trash sitting outside their doors and on their patios, and random pieces of trash are left lying on the grounds for days if not weeks. We had neighbors who moved out and left a game table sitting outside their door, and it was left to sit there for weeks. It is not the offices fault that it was left there, but it is the offices responsibility to maintain the grounds.
I could go on and on about why not to live in Hunt Club, but there is entirely too many reasons not to. The apartment we were shown was only similar as far as the lay out...everything else was as cruddy as it comes!
The only thing good I actually have to say about Hunt Club is that Barbara, the maintenance manager, is very polite and worked with us in regards to compensation of the flooding difficulties. I only wish the other people in the front office had mentioned her first instead of twiddling their thumbs!
